On January 15th, Northwestern University Opera Theater’s production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo will be premiered. Mr. Lustgarten performed as Pastore One under the baton of Steven Alltop and direction of Joachim Schamberger. Mr. Lustgarten’s staged performance of Jake Heggie’s song cycle, “Friendly Persuasions,” will be live-streamed as a part of the Boston University Opera Institute’s virtual Fringe Festival. Also with the Opera Institute, Mr. Lustgarten will perform as Henry Crawford in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park. In summer 2021, Mr. Lustgarten will be performing with Central City Opera as a member of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation Studio Artists. He will cover the role of Borsa in their production of Rigoletto.

Ryan Lustgarten spent two summers as a young artist with the Brancaleoni International Music Festival, where he sang the roles of Nemorino (L’Elisir d’amore), and Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi). During Mr. Lustgarten’s graduate studies at Northwestern University, he performed the roles of Alfred (Die Fledermaus), Pat (Dog Days), Leonato (Beatrice et Benedict) and Sellem (The Rake’s Progress), as well as covered the roles of Benedict (Beatrice et Benedict), and Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress). During Mr. Lustgarten’s undergraduate studies at Washington State University, he performed the roles of Alfred (Die Fledermaus), St Brioche (Merry Widow), Bill (A Hand of Bridge), and Lucas (The Addams Family). Mr. Lustgarten also covered the role of Lenski (Eugene Onegin) with the Chicago Vocal Arts Consortium.

Ryan Lustgarten also excels in concert settings. In October 2021, he will perform as the tenor soloist for Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the North Shore Choral Society. He has also performed as the tenor soloist in the Mozart Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Rachmaninov Vespers, and David T. Little’s “Am I Born.” Ryan also had the immense privilege of performing Andrea Bocelli’s “The Prayer” with Broadway Star Heather Headley for the 30th Anniversary Celebration Concert for the Over the Rainbow Association.
